Afro Hair & Beauty Live and GUBA Enterprise Announce Landmark Cultural Partnership for 2026 Edition

Afro Hair & Beauty Live (AHBL), Europe’s longest-running celebration of Black hair, beauty, and lifestyle, has announced a landmark cultural partnership with GUBA Enterprise ahead of its highly anticipated 2026 edition.

Scheduled to take place on 24–25 May 2026 at the Business Design Centre, this year’s event—dubbed “The Year of the Sapphire”—marks a defining moment in the evolution of two of the UK’s most influential Black cultural institutions.

A Historic Collaboration Rooted in Legacy and Impact

The partnership brings together AHBL’s 45-year legacy of championing Afro-textured hair and multicultural beauty with GUBA Enterprise’s global reputation for celebrating excellence across the African diaspora through its flagship platform, the GUBA Awards.

Organisers describe the collaboration as a strategic alignment of purpose—designed to elevate visibility, amplify Black-owned businesses, and create powerful cultural and commercial impact on a global stage.

The Year of the Sapphire: Celebrating 45 Years of Cultural Influence

Founded in 1983 by Len Dyke and Dudley Dryden, Afro Hair & Beauty Live was created at a time when Afro hair and beauty had little to no representation in mainstream British spaces. What began as a pioneering exhibition has grown into a cultural institution, shaping the industry for over four decades.

Now held annually in London, the event continues to:

  • Champion Black-owned brands and entrepreneurs
  • Celebrate cultural identity through beauty, fashion, and artistry
  • Create a space for connection between consumers, professionals, and global industry leaders
