On 22 June 2026, GUBA Enterprise, in collaboration with the Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collaborative (GHPAC), hosted the Gold Coast Meets Ocean State Trade and Investment Conference in Rhode Island. The high-level conference brought together business leaders, investors, policymakers, academic institutions, and key stakeholders from Ghana, Rhode Island, and the wider diaspora community to explore opportunities for trade, investment, and strategic partnership between Ghana and the United States.
The event featured a keynote address from Congressman Gabe Amo, a speech from Liz Tanner, Esq., Executive Director of Ocean State 26, and participation from notable institutions including the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, the University of Rhode Island, and the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, alongside entrepreneurs, corporate organisations, investors, and business professionals committed to strengthening economic ties between Ghana and the United States.
Diaspora Capital as a Structured Investment Class
A key highlight of the conference was the GUBA Panel Discussion themed “Diaspora Capital as a Structured Investment Class,” which explored how diaspora capital can be strategically mobilised beyond traditional remittances to support sustainable investment, entrepreneurship, and economic development between Ghana and the United States.
The panel featured:
• Adjoa Kyerematen, CEO, Ghana Diaspora Affairs Collaborative (GHPAC)
• Gerophine Madjoa Morrison, Diaspora Engagement Coordinator, GUBA Enterprise and GUBA Diaspora Network
• Archyn Brew-Butler, CEO, Orijin Africa
• Jude Addo, CEO, JA Group
• Emmanuel Matey-Kole, Esq., Managing Partner, M and O Legal Consult
The conference demonstrated that the Ghana-Rhode Island relationship, catalysed by the 2026 FIFA World Cup, extends well beyond sport. Through the Gold Coast Meets Ocean State platform, GUBA Enterprise and GHPAC created a lasting framework for economic collaboration that will continue to generate opportunities for both communities long after the tournament concludes.
