GUBA Co-Hosts Ghana Black Stars Flag Raising Ceremony in Rhode Island as Lady Dentaa Receives Mayoral Recognition

On 12 June 2026, GUBA Enterprise, in collaboration with the Ghanaian community in Rhode Island and Ocean State 26, co-hosted an official flag raising ceremony to welcome Ghana’s Black Stars to their base camp in Rhode Island ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The ceremony marked a proud and symbolic moment for the Ghanaian diaspora community in New England, celebrating the arrival of the national team on American soil.

In a particularly meaningful moment, Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, President and CEO of GUBA Enterprise, was honoured with a formal recognition by the Mayor of Rhode Island for her contributions to strengthening the relationship between Ghana and Rhode Island, and for the role GUBA has played in bringing the two communities closer together through culture, diplomacy, and trade.

The flag raising formed part of a wider series of engagements organised by GUBA Enterprise around the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to using sport as a vehicle for diaspora connection, cultural pride, and lasting bilateral partnership.
